THE ACS TECHNICIAN COMMITMENT

LEADERSHIP & ADVOCACY AWARD

As part of the broader support structure, the award winner will be paired with an international experienced mentor from the ISAC Shared Resource Laboratory (SRL) Committee. This mentorship will be tailored to the recipient’s individual career goals and development needs. The initiative ensures that the award provides not only recognition but also meaningful, ongoing professional support, fostering career progression and strengthening cytometry networks globally.

Prize: 

$2,000 value (including ACS conference registration and other flow cytometry-related professional development or educational events). The award may include an extra professional development component (details to be finalised with the sponsor).


Scope: 

Recognises an individual who has demonstrated sustained leadership in flow cytometry and active advocacy for the profession. This award foregrounds the Visibility and Sustainability pillars of the Technician Commitment.


Eligibility:

  • Open to individuals employed in a cytometry-related professional, general, or technical (PGT) stream or individuals whose role is at least 80% dedicated to research technology or infrastructure functions, regardless of classification stream, at an Australasian institution.
  • Applicants must be financial ACS members at the time of application (or join at the time of application).
  • Self-nomination is permitted. An endorsement statement from a supervisor, colleague, or research collaborator is required.
  • Applicants may submit one application per award cycle and may apply for only one award category.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ cumulative experience in the PGT stream, in flow cytometry research technology, research infrastructure, or shared resource laboratory role (need not be continuous or at a single institution)

ACCELERATOR AWARD

Scope: 

Recognises an early-career flow cytometry specialist professional who is demonstrating exceptional promise and a trajectory of professional growth. This award foregrounds the Career Development pillar.

Eligibility:

  • Open to individuals employed in a cytometry-related professional, general, or technical (PGT) stream or individuals whose role is at least 80% dedicated to research technology or infrastructure functions, regardless of classification stream, at an Australasian institution.
  • Applicants must be financial ACS members at the time of application (or join at the time of application).
  • Self-nomination is permitted. An endorsement statement from a supervisor, colleague, or research collaborator is required.
  • Applicants may submit one application per award cycle and may apply for only one award category.
  • Eligible if within the first seven (7) years of employment in a research technology role.
