Helen obtained her PhD from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Sydney in 2011 before undertaking an NHMRC CJ Martin Postdoctoral Fellowship at Stanford University, California. Under the mentorship of Professor Mark Davis, a pioneer in high-dimensional immune profiling, specialised in mass cytometry.

Returning to Australia, Helen spearheaded the launch of mass cytometry-enabled comprehensive immunophenotyping at the University of Sydney. Helen is currently an Associate Professor in the School of Medical Sciences and lead an independent research program focused on identifying immune signatures in chronic human diseases. Helen’s work bridges the gap between advanced single-cell technologies and clinical translation, specifically in the fields of cancer immunotherapy and cardiovascular disease. Helen has been recognised as an emerging international leader, serving as President of the Australasian Cytometry Society (2019-2023) and an IUIS Rising Star (2025).
