Professor Pettit is an ARC Future Fellow leading the Bones and Immunology Research Group and is Director of Biomedical Research at Mater Research Institute-The University of Queensland. She has led basic biological discoveries in bone biology and immunology and translated these into understanding macrophage contributions to bone repair, bone disease, cancer metastasis to bone, and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. She has published over 70 original scientific publications including numerous publications ranked in the top 1% for their field. She has a strong track record of training high quality postgraduate students with many receiving numerous accolades throughout their candidatures Professor Pettit is an Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Research Society Council member and an immediate past member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research’s Women in Bone Research Committee.
